Nestled in Leeugedacht adjoining the Dinokeng Big 5 conservancy in Dinokeng, Mahala View is all about lions. Meet Leon van Biljon, The Lion Man, a man with a passion for these creatures and a remarkable insight into their nature, habits and behaviour. Guest can stay overnight and enjoy being close to these majestic animals.
This lion lodge offers a variety of accommodation within the lion camp. This lodge is surrounded by electric fencing to protect the occupants from the lions. The lions can also be moved to another camp on guest’s request. The other chalets are located either a short distance from the camp for privacy or near the main building close to the swimming pool.
Guest can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner that is served on the Lion’s Deck. Semi self-catering allows you to enjoy your own braai facilities with assistance from the central kitchen. Guest will need to specify whether they would like meals included with their accommodation. Food and drink are also available at the Cave Tea Garden and Bar overlooking the lion camp. The Cave incorporates a tea garden and bar, as well as a venue for conferences or group functions.
The Lion’s Deck is a multi-purpose area where conferences or meetings can be held, meals can be served, or the adjoining lounge can be used for watching television, listening to music or reading. It’s ideal for open-air group functions.
For guest enjoyment, Leon presents a short lecture on his animals before taking visitors down to the lion camp to meet them up close. Watch him walk with them and learn as he talks about them in great. After the evening meal, guests can even watch a lion-themed movie from Leon’s collection in the comfortable lounge. Then retire to your accommodation and wait for the lions to make themselves heard. This is a perfect additional activity to any conference or team building outing. Guest can also arrange game drives on request.
