Description
This farm is set in a traditional Karoo environment with historical structures from the previous century dating back 150 years ago still visible in several locations. Several Khoi San Bushmen drawings can be found.

Modderfontein farm is the highest point between Cape Town and Johannesburg, 1300 m above sea level. The Karoo is a semi-desert area, however Modderfontein farm has six natural springs on the farm and the water is of very good drinking quality. Our home is a place of true peace and tranquility. We invite you to escape the crowds of city life and come relax with us. We offer three comfortably furnished bedrooms, two of which have en-suite bathrooms and the other bathroom is opposite the third bedroom. We offer laundry and cleaning services to all guests. There are tea and coffee-making facilities in all rooms with homemade rusks. There is a self-catering fully equipped kitchen available for all guests.

The guest house is on a working farm with sheep, angora and cattle. There are various activities to fill up your days such as hiking, 4x4-ing, mountain biking, quad biking, donkey cart riding and birdwatching.

Desert Dew Guesthouse in Three Sisters Reviewed by Nadia da Costa, South Africa on . A beautiful Karoo experience This was the perfect stop-over on our way to Cape Town from Johannesburg. Our hostess made sure that we were comfortable. A cottage with 2 bedrooms, a kitchenette and lounge provided us with the comfort that we needed for our overnight stay. The beds had crisp bed linen and clean soft towels were provided. Dinner was delicious - we had the best fish we have ever tasted here in the heart of the Karoo. We were spoilt for choice for breakfast. Lots of attention to  detail sets this stop-over apart from all the rest. Not forgetting the spectacular scenery that this home offers.
