Description
The name Badsfontein comes from the fountain near the old farmhouse. According to history there was an ox wagon route running through the farm, and the travellers use to bathe, "bad", in the fountain to get relief from the dry dust and heat of the Karoo.

Susanna van der Merwe, wife of the current owner, has developed the farm into a guest farm, again providing recuperation for weary travellers or anyone needing a rest from life's journey.

The Karoo is a very remarkable place with its windmills, "windpompe", rocky outcrops and semi-desert vegetation. Izak`s farming motto is, "you do not farm with sheep, but with Karoo veld and the animal is just the harvest machine that convert the veld into a marketable product of natural Karoo lamb!"

The peace and quiet creates the attractiveness of this destination. But most important, the traditional, hearty food with naturally spiced Karoo lamb is the reason why guests return.
