Declan’s Bed and Breakfast is situated in the picturesque town of Maclear, the ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Declan’s comprises of four accommodation sections named: Declan, The Cottages, The Oaks and The Oregon.
Situated on the foothills of the Drakensberg, the breathtaking mountains set the perfect backdrop to any occasion and are visible from anywhere in town. You can embark on a scenic walk to the dam that is only a five-minute walk. We are ideally set in a quiet part of town, but still only a few minutes away from the shopping centres.
Maclear offers many activities for those looking for an outdoor getaway. The surrounding rivers are famous as being some of the finest fly fishing spots in South Africa. Don't forget to pack your golf clubs when visiting, as Maclear has a lovely 9-hole golf course. If golf isn’t for you, you can take advantage of the tennis-and squash facilities that are also available at the club.
The ancient bushman tribes used the caves of the Maclear Mountains as their canvasses, and the artwork still decorates the mountains to this day. Botanical and rock-art tours can be arranged and dinosaur footprints can also be viewed. |
