Description
Naclu River Lodge is situated 1 km north of Umzimkulu town and 20 km south of Ixopo town, in KwaZulu-Natal. The green rolling hills of Alan Paton’s “Cry the Beloved Country” makes the journey to Ncalu River Lodge, one filled with rural beauty.

The quiet country setting and large orange groves are a wonderful place to relax. The lodge house has six en-suite bedrooms and a pleasant dining area. Meals are taken in the lodge house dining area.

The other rooms are separate from the house and have peaceful views of the orange grove and dam. Most of the rooms have double beds. The family rooms either have a queen-sized bed and a double bed or two doubles and twin beds. All rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities and Hotel Bouquet DStv.

The large garden is beautiful in summer with green lawns and a swimming pool.

Ncalu River Lodge in Umzimkulu Reviewed by Lisa Collett, South Africa on . This place was really badly run and managed. Firstly they didn't even have what we had booked for. It didn't exist even in the lodge which was a family room for 6. The friends we had come with arrived first to find their room which was a family room for 4 had one double bed and a 3/4 bed which was meant to sleep two in it crammed together. The guy left in charge had no idea what we were asking for and eventfully took the keys ourselves and shuffled rooms and found another one so we at least had another bed so we could all have a bed. The two rooms down the end were particularly dirty. Full of dust. Missing floor pieces wires hangin out everywhere. Cupboard doors hanging on hinges, grime in the corners of the rooms, not enough toilet paper for a family for an evening was even left. Shower was full of mildew and hardly worke worked.
