Description
Moolman Hotel is situated 17 km east of Piet Retief on the R33 en-route to the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. One of the oldest establishments in the country, it was recently renovated in the old-world style embracing the tranquil surroundings.

We offer a variety of accommodation options for all budgets. The hotel has a swimming pool for those hot summer days and a fully licensed restaurant with a stocked bar for social gatherings. There is secure parking available and laundry services on request.

Surrounded by beautiful plantations of bluegum and wattle trees, Piet Retief is a place where travellers can relax before carrying on with their journey to Pongola and the North Coast beaches of KwaZulu-Natal. The town offers a wide variety of locations perfect for the bird enthusiast, which has become one of the main reasons for visiting the area.

Hiking and fishing are another great way to spend your time in Piet Retief. The dams, rivers and streams in the area are well-stocked with indigenous yellowtail and Natal yellowfin.

Moolman Hotel in Commondale Reviewed by Dave Neill, South Africa on . Clean but needs some TLC The hotel is in desperate need of some paint and looks a little scruffy but apart from that for the purpose it served us as a 1 night stop over and just a bed required it was fine. You get what you pay for. The room was very basic but the bedding was in good condition and clean as was the room clean. The bathroom also desperately needs a painting. The owners were pleasant and helpful. The place has a lot of potential and character but needs some TLC.
