Description
Zandrivier Working Farm situated in the heart of the Karoo and is the highest farm in the Western Cape, only 65 km from Laingsburg and 50 km from Ladismith. This farm offers quiet private accommodation in a beautiful setting nestled between the Klein Swartberg and Elandberg.

Zandriver has three separate private cottages surrounded by the Swartberg and Elandsberg mountains and offers the opportunity of either getting away from it all, or being part of farm life. Children are encouraged to interact with our animals, perhaps milk a cow, feed the chickens, ducks and donkeys or enjoy the lambs and calves that are close to the main house.

The farm offers a relaxing environment and being about 1200 m above sea level, it enjoys snowfall during most winters. All cottages are fitted with fireplace. Guests can enjoy the walking trails on the farm and feel free to bring mountain bikes. Zandrivier is a sheep farm with some Nguni cattle.

The farm has easy access to the Seweweekspoort Piek - the highest point above sea level in the Western Cape. There are two kloofs with rock pools than can be explored by the more adventurous guests.

Electricity is provided and there is cell phone reception but no MTN network.

Zandrivier Working Farm in Swartberg Nature Reserve Reviewed by Anria van Zyl, South Africa on . Worth going the distance I would whole heartedly without any reservations recommend a stay in the cottage. The little ones found enough adventure outside to keep them busy(they even got to milk a cow). The children didn’t even notice the absence of a television. The views are spectacular, the accommodation clean and affordable – bliss.
