Accommodation at Burns Cottages consists of three elegantly furnished and spacious bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have a double bed as well as a single bed, sleeping three people each, and both have full en-suite bathrooms with a bath, shower, hand basin and toilet. The third bedroom is for the children and has two double-tier bunk beds, sleeping four children, as well as a full en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower, hand basin and toilet. All fittings are modern and stylish.
The two main bedrooms occupy one end of the house, while the children's room forms a suite of its own at the other end. At the front of the house is a comfortably furnished sitting room with both DStv and decoder, please bring your own card and Internet connection. At the back of the house is a separate open-plan lounge and dining room with an enormous hearth for a roaring fire on cold winter nights.
The kitchen reflects the ambiance of an old-style farm kitchen but is packed with the latest in kitchen equipment, including a large fridge, a large separate freezer, a large gas stove, microwave oven, four-slice toaster and defroster, a dishwasher and a wide assortments of pots, pans and other utensils. The two spacious verandas, front and back, give one the choice of sunshine or shade, depending on the weather, and provide an opportunity to revel in the clean country air and have a true South African braai in the outdoors by the dam.
Should you not wish to cook yourself, meals can be provided by prior arrangement. Alternatively, being so close to Humansdorp, Jeffrey's Bay and the new Fountains Mall, guests can either go out for their meals at the wide variety of places to eat in the neighbourhood or, if they so wish, have their meals delivered to their door by one of the delivery services. Burns Lodge nicely combines luxurious accommodation with the airy and spacious feel of bygone times. |
