Description
Ngandu Hotel and Casino is situated in Rundu town, with a pristine view over the Kavango River's southern wetlands and riverine forest. Ngandu offers budget to luxury accommodation, as well as a main restaurant and bar, a swimming pool, three conference halls, and 32 campsites. Ideal for overlanders, backpackers and campers, activities include boat cruises, walking trails, village tours, and tribal dancing.

Ngandu was built on an old demolished military base which was in full operation during the War of Independence. This facility today bares no resemblance to the war period and the natural fauna and flora has recovered beautifully, with Ngandu hosting a large collection of aloe species which can be found in Namibia. The hotel is a stern supporter of community and environmental based projects, and is also actively involved in recycling to reduce its carbon fibre footprint.

A one night stay is enough We would not recommend anyone staying in the tree house accommodation which is more like a wendy house in a tree overlooking a parking lot with a very noisy bar! The staff where helpful when we asked to move to a quieter room. They do offer a variety of accommodation but maybe should not try to be everything to everyone. Good luck to the new management team.<br></br> <b>Establishment's response</b><br></br> <i>Thank you for affording us the opportunity to respond to the review made by our valued customer Miss. Susan Harris in this regard. Ngandu Hotels and Casino's offer a wide variety of accommodation to wit camping, budged, semi - luxury, luxury as well as presidential. Prices range from plus minus US10.00 for camping to US 80.00. (Single) The budged rooms overlooking the Namibian/Angolan floodplains are budged rooms and cost US20.00 single or US$ 38 for a twin. This is the best price available in the whole of the Kavango. This rustic looking wood with thatch roof bungalows was built on stilts especially for those customers who could not afford more expensive rooms. These rooms are 6m x 8m in size which includes the veranda. From the notch to the floor is 5 meters. These bungalows were manufactured from exotic wood and it is not a Wendy-house as is incorrectly suggested. These rooms are clean and neat and are much appreciated by many customers who frequent our lodge. Although this is not up market accommodation like the rest of our rooms, many customers who cannot afford the more expensive and exotic accommodation has to use the campsites which offer no protection against the elements such as rain, cold and heat. Not all is fortunate or capable of paying for the more up market accommodation and many customers have shown their appreciation for the availability of these budged rooms. It is also noted that Mrs. Harris did not complain about the room she eventually rented or the other facilities such as the restaurant. It was also noted that she did not complain about the cleanliness of the budged rooms. We would like to emphasize that the budged rooms are nothing more than budged rooms as is advertized and nobody has ever been misinformed in this regard. There is a Village bar close to these budged rooms but our instructions are that the music be turned down at 22:00 during the evenings. Ngandu Hotels and Casino is one of the more prominent employers in the Kavango and we do realize that the job security of our employee’s depends on the quality of service we render to our customers. We can assure Miss Susan Harris that with an unemployment rate of 51% in our beloved country our employee's would not do something intentionally to jeopardize their income, nor would management do so. We for this reason sincerely apologize to Miss Susan Harris if we in any manner or way disappointed her in failing to meet her expectations of what our budged rooms should have been.</i>
