Camp Gecko Private Nature Reserve & Tented Camp in Solitaire
Description |
|
Camp Gecko is situated on the D1275, just below the Spreetshoogte Pass in Namibia. Experience a real "out of Africa" feel in our bush tents set up in the silence of the savanna. The panoramic view of the Naukluft Mountains, the most beautiful sunsets in Namiba, and the magic of the African sky will stay in your memories forever.
We offer two, two-storey bush hide-aways with en-suite bathrooms, one three storey tent with en-suite shower and toilet, two upgraded bush tents with en-suite bathrooms, one family/self-catering unit, and various camp sites. Facilities at Camp Gecko include a natural swimming dam with bar, several barbecue areas, a lapa with bar, and a private air strip. The new sitting pool near the tents have breathtaking views over the savanna where you can enjoy a sundowner in the cooling water.
The tents do not have electricity points to avoid unnatural noise, and if you need to charge batteries you are welcome to do so at the Farm House. Light is provided by paraffin lamps and camping lamps which we supply to you. Hot water is provided by a “donkey” which is heated up by wood fire, and we supply wood and paper so you can light the donkey whenever you wish to take a hot shower. The tents are equipped with proper beds, bedding, towels, extra blankets, and mosquito nets and coils. There is also a wash up facility located next to the tents.
Relax around the camp fire and enjoy the sound of the barking geckos, or unwind on the shady terrace and enjoy the incredible views. You may even be lucky enough to watch our Hartmann's mountain zebras, kudus, springbok, and ostriches take a drink at the waterhole in front of the tents.
Camp Gecko is a secret, unspoiled and wild, romantic paradise just waiting to be discovered by you. |
