Description |
|
Piet-my-Vrou Farm Guest Cottage is a two-bedroom, self-catering cottage situated on a working farm which is private and fully-equipped. The cottage can sleep up to six guests and meals are available on request.
Piet-my-Vrou is the Afrikaans name for the mockingbird or red chested cuckoo that you will find here during spring time. The cottage is situated on the working farm called Drayton, at the foot of a beautiful mountain. Drayton is one of the oldest farms in the Overberg area and the original mill, that dates back to the mid 1700's, is still on the farm. The farm is only 8 km outside of Caledon, on the N2 in the direction of Riviersonderend. Visitors can reach the cottage by car and will only have to travel on 800 m of gravel road.
On arrival, guests will receive freshly baked bread and home baked rusks. A menu from which guests can order home cooked meals and freshly baked goods to be enjoyed in the privacy of the cottage, is also provided. Guests can relax on the verandah and enjoy the scenery, or take an easy hike to the waterfall in the nearby mountain. A small mountain stream also flows past the cottage.
The coastal town of Hermanus is 65 km away and picturesque Greyton is only 40 km away. In the nearby Hemel and Aarde Valley, there are a number of wine cellars that can be visited. The hot springs and casino are only 8 km away. There is a golf course in Caledon, as well as a few restaurants and gift shops. The Arabella Hotel, with its very popular golf course and spa, is only 20 minutes away. |
